The Sheridans

Judy and Art Sheridan are the owners of Bluestem Farm, a forage-based hair sheep breeding stock operation in Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) / North Texas area.

We raise and sell registered Katahdins, selecting for the traits that make this wool-less American meat breed popular, productive and easy care.

In doing so, we are enjoying growing a family farm from the ground up — a long-term goal — while committing to humane livestock practices and good land stewardship.

Judy, a lifelong animal lover, has a B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Illinois, where she later worked in the Dairy Science Department. She is the chief shepherd and tireless researcher.

Art is the head farmhand and principal aerospace engineer. He has worked to design the facilities and keeps the equipment running!

Two canine indispensables keep the coyotes and turkey buzzards at bay: brothers Marco and Luca, our Maremma pack from the Texas Panhandle.

Together, Art and Judy have raised five kids, most of whom, ironically, live in large cities.
