We are looking forward to attending the Eastern Alliance for Production Katahdins Symposium and Sale on July 11th and 12th in Elizabethtown, KY. These annual gatherings give us a chance to engage with leading Katahdin producers and prominent researchers/experts. The EAPK community is known for promoting science-based practices. All exhibitors must be members of the National Sheep Improvement Program. We will be offering some of our best ram lambs in the online sale to be held on Saturday the 12th. You can register to bid at the sale at Willoughby Livestock Sales.
BTX Bluestem Farm is pleased to announce that all of our breeding stock has tested negative for Ovine Progressive Pneumonia (OPP), Caseous Lymphadenitis (CL) and Johne's. In order to maintain that clean status, we commit to quarantining and testing all new arrivals.
Judy and Art, Illinois grads, have lived in DFW long enough to be called Texans! Judy has worked in agriculture, journalism and education; Art is retired from a career in aerospace.
Our goal is easy-care sheep -- registered breeding stock that produce multiples, mother their lambs with excellence and rarely, if ever, require deworming. No shearing, no tail docking.
Katahdin hair sheep were developed in the United States. They are hardy, productive and one of the fastest growing sheep breeds in America.
Our management practices are based on stewardship principles: kind to the animals; kind to the Earth.
